The Cat/Rat Dream
(The Cat/Rat dream will be presented in the next three Blogs. This Blog is part 1 in the series).
When I closed Blog #19, I noted that Blog #20, featuring the “Cat/Rat” Dream, would represent the epitome of dream symbols. The Cat/Rat dream contains virtually every aspect within the Continuum as recorded in my 1993 Dream Journal. This dream represents the epitome of Continuum activity because it includes a range of Continuum sounds along with the corresponding dream symbols. The following 9 Events represents the sequence that the Continuum would normally produce culminating in an Out Of Body Sound Experience:
- A full range of Continuum sounds. 2. The sounds that correspond to the appropriate Dream Scenery. 3. Circulation symbols. 4. Traveling symbols. 5 Revving up of an Engine sound. 6. Speed along with the accompanying increase in velocity scenery. 7. Elevation/Descending symbols. 8. The crossing of the Border (Successful DLES). 9. A Void Out. 10. Finalizing with a successful Out Of Body episode.
The Initial Onset Of The Cat/Rat Dream
After reviewing my dream journal, I noted an odd occurrence. I discovered that nighttime dreaming can involve experiencing several dreams. That night, I experienced two separate dreams. The first dream of the night was entirely unrelated to the Cat/Rat dream. However, while the first dream was in progress, I distinctly heard a background noise resembling a Crackling sound similar to this attached sound #6:
As events continued, this Crackling sound wasn’t related to the first dream. In fact, this Cracking sound was related to the Cat/Rat dream that had yet to produced dream images. In other words, two separate dreams occurred simultaneously! The first dream produced its independent imagery, while the Continuum simultaneously produced sounds from the second dream without creating any related dream imagery. Only later, did dream imagery of both animals, replace dream imagery of the first dream. None-the-less, Continuum sounds from the second dream remain throughout the Cat/Rat dream.
Cat/Rat Dream Chaos???
I’ll illustrate these two simultaneously occurring dreams. 1. The first dream produced its independent imagery. 2. The Continuum then produced the related cracking sound: https://outofbodysounds.com/6/ without the accompanying dream imagery. 3. While both the first dream & the Continuum sound progress, finally images from the second dream, the Cat/Rat dream, enters the Dreamscape. Consequentially, two dreams are occurring at the same time. 4. As long as the Buzzing sound remained, the dream scenery had the Cat chasing the Rat around a tree (A Circulating symbol). 5. Once the Continuum sound commences to rev up to an ever-increasing pitch volume, (Symbolizing the Energizing Symbol), the Cat & Rat commenced to Circulate the tree at an increasingly rapid rate of velocity. (Both the Continuum sound & the circulating rate of the Cat/Rat corresponded the Continuum’s sound revving up. 6. As soon as the Buzzing sound ceased, the Cat would immediately chase the Rat completely out of the dream scenery. 7. Both animals are no longer in the Dreamscape and the Continuum is quiet. No sound & no animals. The only remaining dream symbol remaining is the Tree the animals were circulating. 8. Finally, after a brief period of inactivity, the Continuum sound resumed followed by both animals re-appearing. Both animals are now Face-To-Face & commence hissing while slowly circulating. This hissing “Face Off” was in fact the Continuum’s Buzzing sound. This Buzzing sound is now superimposed over the animals hissing at each other while they’re slowly circulating the tree.
The Engine Continuum Sound Effect
As the Engine sound effect once again revved up, the animals again chased each other around the tree only to exit the dream once the Continuum sound terminated. This cycle of Buzzing, Engine Revving, Circulating, Rapid Circulation, then exiting the dream, repeatedly occurred. This process continued until the next phase finally put an end to this pattern. The final phase was when a Void Out occurred.
Initial Conclusion
- Once again, both dreams were completely unaffected by the other dream. 2. Continuum sounds only affected the Cat/Rat dream and the Continuum had no effect upon the first dream.
- Once the Continuum sound became a permanent feature, the Cat/Rat dream imagery finally permanently replaced the imagery of the first dream. Both dreams were independently occurring simultaneously at the same time! It’s as if I was observing a Drama movie & a Comedy movie merged together on the same television set.
Summation
One has to ponder our basic assumptions. What if what we assume to be a singular dream, might actually be portions of several independent dreams scenarios occurring simultaneously. I believe that thoughts, emotions, perceptions, feelings & unconscious activity can all contribute to the panoply of dream symbols incorporated during dreams. Perhaps this is one reason dreams appear so irrational. The Psyche must therefore work overtime to make some working relationship for us. Somehow the relationship between the Continuum & Out Of Body Experiences contributes to a mixed stew of events that may not be rationally sequenced. I have linked this Post to an interesting article about Simultaneous dreaming. I make no claims about this article. How Does Our Psyche Resolve This Matter
Can it be that the Unconscious part of your Psyche makes order out of what is seemingly the disorder of a Dreamscape? When all is said & done, your Psyche must be the mechanism that integrates reality with your consciousness. Perhaps the Mystics were onto something as they attempted to explain the mélange of our Psyche during meditation/religion/prayer/visions. These could be a bridge that makes order out of this mélange. I, therefore, must assume that your Psyche has the internal mechanisms to sort these out. Somewhere within this mélange, the Continuum maintains it’s place.
The Next Continuum Sound Develops – The DLES
Part 2 of The Cat/Rat Dream will discuss the next Continuum phase. Since I was the dreamer during this experience, my relationship with the Continuum & Out Of Body experiences will be explored. It will feature the DLES, The Void Out & Out Of Body Experience.
